“Sweet in the Shade”
Annual Container Recipe

Shade can be a challenge. The secret to success is choose plants that thrive in cooler locations with less light. The 'Sweet in the Shade' recipe features some of our favorites.

Creating an awesome flowering container is easy. It's a little like making chocolate chip cookies.

Use quality ingredients. Follow the recipe and voila! Success!

Plants Required
Pink Begonia yellow diamond

Non-Stop Begonia

Begonias strut their stuff in the shade with large showy flowers in countless colours. Expect continuous bloom all summer. Protect from windy locations.

Dark Eyes Fuchsia Heart

Fuchsia “Dark Eyes”

People are passionate about fuchsia! The unique flower resembles a delicate lady’s earring. Fuchsia do well in the shade.

Bacopa white circle

Bacopa “Giant Snowflake”

A flurry of giant snow white flowers. Vigorous and easy to grow.

Blue Star Lobelia square

Lobelia “Blue Star”

Lobelia has long been a favorite plant for containers. “Blue Star” is our choice because it has larger flowers and better heat tolerance than other varieties.

  • Smartcote 14-14-14
  • Plant Prod 15-30-15
  • Plant Prod Fertilizer Appicator Optional, but it really makes it much easier to fertilize
  • Soil Moist (if not included in Pro-Mix)
