How to Use: Seed and soil contact is essential. To overseed, mow grass closely, use a rake to remove debris and loosen top 6 mm (1/4 inch) of soil in bare and thin areas. For new lawns, loosen top 5 - 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inches) of soil to provide lodging place for the seeds. Distribute the seed evenly and then gently rake area to work seed into the soil. For best results, always use a Scotts brand spreader and follow the spreader setting recommendations on the bag of grass seed. Apply Scotts Starter Food for New Grass and then water thoroughly. WATERING IS CRUCIAL TO SEEDING SUCCESS. Keep the soil damp by watering twice daily for 6-8 weeks. In 4 to 6 weeks, apply Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Fertilizer to help plants knit together. Do not apply a weed control product until after at least 3 mowings.

When to Apply: Spring and fall are the best times to plant. Seed germinates best when temperatures are consistently 15°-26°C (60° to 80°F).
