Hardy in Zones 4 to 10, this purple ornamental onion prefers sun and fertile, loose, sharply drained soil. Its stems structure borders, attract pollinators, and provide excellent cut flowers. After bloom, dry heads remain graphic while neighbouring foliage naturally conceals yellowing leaves. Deer generally avoid established plants, although all parts must remain away from pets. This pollinator friendly Allium remains equally valuable fresh, dried, and standing in the garden. A 90 cm tall Allium creates clear vertical rhythm.
