Magic Carpet Ride brings together thirty muscari bulbs with white, lavender blue, and deep blue flowers. Their compact clusters of small, fragrant bells rise to about 15 cm (6 in.) and create a gentle gradient in mid-spring. These bulbs belong to the genus Muscari, family Asparagaceae. Plant Magic Carpet Ride from September to November in cool, loose, well-drained soil. Choose full sun or bright partial shade. Place the bulbs with the point facing up at a depth of 8 to 10 cm (3 to 4 in.) and space them 6 to 8 cm (2 to 3 in.) apart; an irregular grouping looks more natural than a rigid line. Water after planting to bring the soil into contact with the bulbs, then let seasonal rains maintain moderate moisture. In pots, use a container with drainage holes and a draining substrate. Light, mature compost is sufficient in poor soils. This period recharges the bulbs and promotes their return and multiplication. Magic Carpet Ride can naturalize in a lightly mown lawn, a border, or at the base of deciduous shrubs, where spring light reaches the ground. The bulbs are not intended for consumption; keep them out of reach of children and curious animals.
