  • Narcissus ‘Ice Follies’ (Narcissus ‘Ice Follies’) produces fragrant, 9 cm (4 in) flowers with broad, overlapping creamy-white petals and a large, flared primrose-yellow cup that fades to near-white by mid-spring. The package contains 5 bulbs, size 12/14. Stems grow to about 40 cm (16 in), a convenient height for rock gardens, borders, containers, and naturalized plantings. Hardy to Zone 3, this narcissus returns for several years when the soil remains fertile, well-drained, and slightly moist during its growth. Group planting enhances the color effect and allows appreciation of ‘Ice Follies’ unique form near a pathway or entrance. Plant bulbs in autumn, point up, 15 cm (6 in) deep and 15 cm (6 in) apart. Choose full sun or light partial shade, then water deeply after planting. In spring, maintain regular moisture when rainfall is insufficient, without allowing water to stagnate. Reduce watering during summer dormancy and mark the location to avoid disturbing the bulbs. Divide crowded clumps after the foliage has withered, then promptly replant the firm bulbs. All parts of the narcissus are toxic if ingested; keep bulbs out of reach of children and pets, and wear gloves if your skin reacts to the sap.
