  • The Florissa Orange Pride Tulip is a highly sought-after Darwin Hybrid tulip variant renowned for its large, goblet-shaped, bright coppery-orange blooms accented with warm red, apricot, and salmon undertones.
  • Key Features & Growth Habits

    • Bloom Window: It delivers vibrant colour from mid-to-late spring (typically late April through May).
    • Size: This cultivar boasts massive blooms that can reach up to 13 cm (5 inches) in diameter when fully open under the sun.
    • Perennial Nature: Belonging to the Darwin Hybrid group, they are exceptional "perennializers," meaning they reliably return with strong vigour year after year compared to standard tulip varieties

    Planting:

    • Sunlight: Choose a spot that receives full sun to partial shade (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily).
    • Soil Conditions: Tulips demand sharp, well-draining soil. Soil that remains soggy over the winter will rot the bulbs. If you have heavy clay, amend it with compost, coarse sand, or peat moss to improve drainage.
    • Planting Depth: Dig a hole or trench 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) deep. A good rule of thumb is to plant the bulb three times as deep as its height.
    • Spacing: Space the bulbs 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) apart.
    • Orientation: Always place the bulb with the pointed end facing up and the flat, hairy root base facing down.
    • Fertilization: Toss a handful of bone meal or a specialized bulb fertilizer into the bottom of the planting hole to encourage strong root development.
    • Watering: Water the area thoroughly right after planting to settle the soil and activate root growth. You do not need to water again until spring unless the fall is exceptionally dry.
