  • Duganski Garlic is a Standard Purple Stripe hardneck garlic native to Central Asia, distinguished by its white husks broadly striped with purple. Each head typically contains 7 to 10 large, elongated cloves clustered around a rigid central stem.
  • Its pungent flavor is immediately apparent when raw, then mellows into a deep, slightly nutty richness after cooking. The Van Noort pack contains exactly 3 bulbs. The upright plants grow to about 60 cm (24 in), produce a strongly arching stalk in spring, and are suitable for zones 2 to 10, particularly cooler climates.

To successfully plant fall garlic, separate the three bulbs only at planting time and hold the cloves firmly. Choose a sunny or bright, partially shaded location with deep, fertile, loose, and well-drained soil. Plant each bulb 8 cm (3 in) deep, 15 cm (6 in) apart. Water once, then mulch after the soil has cooled. In spring, weed early, maintain consistent moisture, and fertilize moderately. Cut the garlic flowers when they form their tight curl, before they straighten, to encourage larger heads.
