  • Seabreeze brings together assorted tricolor hyacinths in matching colors to brighten pots and flower beds in mid-spring.
  • Plant Seabreeze in fall in a sunny or lightly shaded location. Prepare a humus-rich, loose, well-draining soil, then place the bulbs 12 to 15 cm (5 to 6 in.) deep and 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 in.) apart. Group them in odd numbers for a natural bouquet. Choose a location where excess water drains quickly and loosen the soil deeper than the base of the bulbs. Place each bulb tip-up without heavily compacting the soil. Water after planting to remove air pockets; autumn rains and snow will then cover most needs. In spring, maintain regular moisture during leaf and stem elongation, without allowing standing water. A light mulch stabilizes the temperature. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers, which promote leaves at the expense of flowers. Remove faded corollas before seed formation, but keep all green foliage until it yellows naturally. Clean tools and discard soft, injured, or diseased bulbs. In containers, frequently check that drainage holes remain clear. Gradually reduce watering when foliage matures. During dormancy, relatively dry soil limits rot. Divide clumps only when they become crowded and less floriferous, then quickly replant healthy bulblets.
