Hyacinth 'Gipsy Queen' (Hyacinthus orientalis 'Gipsy Queen') produces dense spikes of soft apricot to salmon pink bells with coppery undertones in mid-spring. Group planting clearly highlights the soft apricot to salmon pink color and cylindrical shape of the spikes. The plant can return for several years in well-drained soil. Its compact size makes it easy to combine with other spring bulbs. Plant bulbs in the fall, point up, 10 cm (4 in) deep and about 10 cm (4 in) apart. Choose full sun or light partial shade, then water deeply after planting. In spring, keep the soil lightly moist when rain is insufficient, but avoid standing water. Group the four bulbs together for a more visible effect. Reduce watering during summer dormancy and mark the location to avoid disturbing the bulbs. Divide a tight clump after the foliage has died back, then quickly replant firm bulbils. Ornamental bulbs are not intended for consumption and may irritate the skin; keep them out of reach of children and pets and wear gloves if necessary.
