The perfect beginner's Bonsai, with easy care and high aesthetic value.

    Ficus Bonsai Care:

    LIGHT

Direct morning light and bright, indirect afternoon light are ideal to maintain the delicate foliage. Will not thrive in shade.

    WATER

Water thoroughly when the soil gets slightly dry.
    • Check the weight of the pot to help determine water needs.
    • Bottom-watering can be a useful method to help the plant take in the water it needs.
Mist or place on a pebble tray to keep humidity levels high, but watch for signs of fungus if too humid.

    TEMPERATURE

Consistent temperatures are key! Avoid drafts or heat sources, and maintain higher humidity the warmer the location.

    SOIL

Bonsai mix is preferred. The ideal soil mixture will contain akadama clay, pumice, and lava rock.
    • When the roots begin circling inside the planter, it's time to repot!

    FERTILIZER

Use a liquid fertilizer twice a month during the growing season, and continue once a month into the winter if still growing.

Fun Fact: The origins of Bonsai date back to more than a thousand years ago!

To Note: Ficus retusa is toxic when ingested by humans or pets.
