  • German White Garlic is a hardnecked porcelain garlic variety prized for its cold-climate vigor, strong and robust flavor, and reliable storage until spring.
  • Its round heads bear thick, creamy-white to silvery-white tunics that typically protect 5 to 7 medium-sized cloves tightly clustered around a sturdy central stem. The Van Noort package contains exactly 3 bulbs. The upright foliage reaches about 60 cm (24 in), and a drooping garlic flower appears in late spring. Its hardiness to zone 2 and early mid-season harvest make it particularly well-suited to Quebec vegetable gardens.

To successfully grow garlic, separate the cloves from the three bulbs only when planting in the fall, about four to six weeks before the ground freezes. Plant them pointed end up, 8 cm (3 in) deep and 15 cm (6 in) apart, in full sun or very bright partial shade. Deep, fertile, loose, and well-drained soil promotes root development before winter. Water after planting, then apply mulch when the soil cools. In spring, gradually remove excess mulch, weed early, maintain consistent moisture, and cut the stalks as soon as they form their first loop to concentrate energy in the bulbs.
